Bowen is 2!!

We had such a wonderful time celebrating Bowen's 2nd birthday. I have to say, we were lucky in so many ways. First in the weather and second in how many of our lovely friends were able to make it! The day of the party, it POURED rain for the entire day. Literally - it was one of the most horrendous days of the summer - shocking, too, since the forecast all week had been for sun and warmth! Finally, 45 minutes before the party was due to begin, after I resigned to the idea of having about 40 people in our "cosy" (small) flat, and had hung the "Bowen is 2" banner, the rain stopped, the sky cleared to Carolina blue and the sun came out!! Amazing. At that point, it was just a matter of moving everything outside. But truly, we were so lucky and it was just a brilliant afternoon. So many of Bowen's friends were able to be there - including B & H we had 14 toddlers and 4 babies, plus almost 30 adults! We put a slip n slide out for the kids and let me tell you, it was an absolute hit. It made me feel so good to see the kids having such a fun time and enjoying themselves. I know having to 2 babies how rare it is to see them entertained for a long period of time, so this gave me a lot of satisfaction. We had raspberry checkerboard cake, vanilla ice cream cones for the kids, homemade "#2" sugar cookies, and other finger foods. Everyone loved the tomato basil squares! Although, at first Bowen was a little shy and overwhelmed by all the people, she soon discovered all the water fun and settled into her role as 'birthday fairy princess'! She came to the party in her swim suit, fairy tutu, set of wings and pink crown with her name on it - sadly, I don't have a picture and she soon stripped down to only her swim suit! The crown was made for her by her cousin Ava when she was born, so has special meaning. It really was such a wonderful afternoon and a true celebration of Bowen and all the love, joy, laughter and fun she has brought to our lives these past 2 years. She is such a sweet little girl and we simply adore her. Here are some photos taken as we sang happy birthday and tried to get Bowen to blow out the candles. Not quite getting out enough breath, we needed to step in and help her before she set her hair on fire!! :) Although not in the picture, Henry was having a sweet cuddle with a friend and is just outside the photo... there in spirit. Next post will document the kids and all the water fun that was had!

Happy happy 2nd birthday Bowen!!!

We LOVE you!

Momma, Dadda & Henry xxxx
